Rainy Day Reads

Hello Bookworms, I was inspired to write this post from the amount of rainy days we have been having here in Canada. Rainy day reading is probably one of the best feelings ever, and it’s such a mood(this is the most Gen Z I have ever sounded😬). Rainy day reads are different for everyone, but for me it would typically be an easy contemporary read. Anyways, I have curated a list that you will hopefully enjoy and refer to the next time it rains!

For all the mystery lovers out there!

Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie

Rainy Days simply SCREAM crime novels, so I knew Agatha Christie belonged on this list. The plot in this book was crafted so well, and rightfully deserves all the recognition it has gotten.

The book follows the passengers in the Orient Express, a luxurious train where a body has recently been discovered. Detective Hercule Poirot aims to identify the killer as they are isolated in the train, and the killer mays strike again.

Gone Girl: A Novel: Amazon.ca: Flynn, Gillian: Books

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

Okay.. this is another crime/mystery novel but can you blame me? Gone Girl NEEDS to be on this list, it DESERVES to be on this list(okay this is a little dramatic..)

I was VERY late to the Gone Girl hype train, and I mean 8 years late. But I am finally caught up and I can now say with full confidence that everyone should GO READ IT! The writing, the disturbing characters, the twisted plot is everything I have ever wanted and more!

Contemporary Faves!

Meet Cute by Various Authors that I am too tired to list!

Another Rainy Day classic read is an easy-going contemporary novel. There’s nothing cozier than sitting on a couch, listening to the rain and reading a cute book.

Long story short this collection of short stories is possibly the cutest thing I have ever read and features tales of “how they first met”!

Red, White & Royal Blue: A Novel: Amazon.ca: McQuiston, Casey: Books

Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

This is a book that has been on my TBR for ages, and I need to just read it already! This is another cute romantic book that is said to have great humour and amazing characters… so count me in!?!

You can never go wrong with a Classic!

To Kill a Mockingbird - Wikipedia

To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee

Do I need to say anything? A timeless classic, that I would love to revisit as it contains astounding character growth and touches on very serious topics.

A book you have been putting off!

Becoming: Obama, Michelle: 9781524763138: Books - Amazon.ca

Becoming by Michelle Obama

It seems that everyone except myself has read this book, and to be honest I’ve been feeling a little left out😢 . As someone who doesn’t lean towards picking a memoir over a fantasy novel, I am surprised at my immense interest in this book. But I have heard the greatest things about this book, and the audiobook so I can’t wait to delve into this powerful read!

If none of these books are your cup of tea, then the next best thing would be the read that book you have been putting off! I know you have one.. stop waiting there’s no time like the present!!!
