june 2023 book releases

Hello, bookworms; one thing I missed about being on Bookstagram and being as involved as I used to be within the book world (I’ve reclaimed my position !! Don’t fret, folks) was almost subconsciously being aware of every anticipated release. The hype was something you couldn’t get away from, and even if I didn’t enjoy reading from a particularly favoured author if they had a new release that month, the little excitement aura in the air from all my friends was so exciting. It’s so restorative and wholesome, the feeling of being thrilled about a book’s release. Waiting for it to come out, even going to the bookstore that day…buying it at FULL price (cries…especially since hardcovers are usually the only first release)…nevertheless, it’s a joyful experience.

My girl! Ruth is my favourite thriller author, and I do not give out these compliments lightly. I find that, primarily with thrillers, I get so much more out of them when I know as little as possible. Perhaps it’s because the unknown is a considerable part of these books, and any additional time my brain has to create theories or predictions, diminishes that aura of mystery in my mind.

I’ve heard quite the craze for this one on other book blogs, and naturally, I have joined in like the little FOLLOWER I am. Based on the synopsis, it gives me light-hearted summer read vibes, which is precisely what we want.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of this author’s other novels, such as Meet Cute. However, I can see myself enjoying this one if I want a short and painless read this summer.

Thriller lover here, so I am pretty excited for this one. I adore the cover; it’s giving me older stephen king vibes; although his books aren’t always the greatest, we must admit he is an OG. Riley Sager and I also have a bit of a rocky history; I haven’t loved nor hated his books or the ones I have read, at the very least. They have all seemed to fall short of their ultimate potential, which never fails to irk me. Regardless, I maintain high hopes for this one and have heard from a few readers that this may be his best book.

Another glorious cover. I’m not exactly sure what’s going on in 2023, but all the releases I’ve been aware of have been so…compelling? Sometimes I feel the publishing industry has become redundant, and the natural creativity and joy behind reading and writing aren’t even reflected in the book. Yet, maybe we are turning over a new leaf.

This is another synopsis that itches that one part of my brain that’s constantly desperate for good literary fiction. Of course, I’ve read a few mixed reviews, so going into this book, I will most likely judge how I feel about the writing almost instantly (let’s pray we don’t dnf), but if I can get past the initial hump, I believe this could be a new favourite.

A beach read, a light-hearted contemporary good for the summer, these are the things I’ve heard in regards to this novel, and this is what I’m HOPING it delivers.

I cannot begin to explain how much I love this cover. The font. The font COLOUR. The. BLUE. The STRAWBERRY. THE ALIGNMENT. I JUST CANNOT IT’S PERFECT. Not to mention apparently, this is enemies to lovers????? Sign me up RIGHT NOW.

If there were no emptiness, there would be no life

  6. The Only One Left definitely intrigues me. I’m curious of the truth about the murders and what does the seemingly harmless survivor actually is actually hiding…
