Hello Bookworms, I AM SO SO SO SO SO THRILLED TO BE WRITING THIS POST! I went on a reading spree with this series a few months ago, and I became seriously ADDICTED(I am not kidding, I read all eight books in two weeks). It was slightly concerning, but there was just something about the books that had me hooked. I am sure that you have all heard of either this series or Sophie Kinsella. I’m not even sure exactly how many books she’s published, but I’m guessing it’s in the mid-sixties. JEEZ LOUISE! Anyways, this post is neither a book review nor a discussion, it’s more of me just talking and droning on! Enjoy!

Summary:
Becky Bloomwood has a fabulous flat in London’s trendiest neighborhood, a troupe of glamorous socialite friends, and a closet brimming with the season’s must-haves. The only trouble is, she can’t actually afford it—not any of it. Her job writing at Successful Saving magazine not only bores her to tears, it doesn’t pay much at all. And lately Becky’s been chased by dismal letters from the bank—letters with large red sums she can’t bear to read. She tries cutting back. But none of her efforts succeeds. Her only consolation is to buy herself something . . . just a little something.
Finally a story arises that Becky actually cares about, and her front-page article catalyzes a chain of events that will transform her life—and the lives of those around her—forever.
My Thoughts:
It is SO hard to explain how much I loved and hated this book. Well, I ended up rating it five stars, so I did enjoy it more than not. Here are a few gifs that better explain my reactions to reading this ~interesting~ novel:
As you can tell by my reactions I had a lot of fun, and that’s no easy feat. Better yet, this was my response when reading the ENTIRE series. Following along with Becky as she makes one stupid yet hilarious decision after the next NEVER gets boring. And that’s why YOU can read this series at any time. Have you just finished an intense series and want to cool off? Read this. Just read a cute romance novel? Read this. Got disappointed by an anticipated new release? Read this. Whatever genre you enjoy, it all gets tossed aside when it comes to these books. Anyone and I mean ANYONE, can read this and find something to love.
And here’s another strange thing. I’m guessing that the target audience of this book was for consumers who could relate to Becky. “Oh, I just spend 200 dollars on a bag, whoops haha“. But I DO NOT RELATE. Not only do I not ~accidentally~ spend that much money on a bag, or any product of any kind, but I do not find immense “joy” or satisfaction in shopping or spending money. For me, this series was enjoyable because half the time I was laughing at Becky. Sometimes I loved her, sometimes I hated her. She got herself in completely avoidable positions and then would spend years trying to get herself out of them.
But I’m going to have to be honest here. I kind of hate myself for loving this book so much…. it feels like the equivalent of trashy movies?! Is it just me? Well, my excuse is that I need a break from all the intense YA fantasy novels I read. And what perfect author and series could get me through that? Well, Sophie Kinsella is the answer. I’m pretty sure she knows where her novels stand, they don’t compare to the writing of Lolita or the masterpiece that is Catcher in the Rye. These books are simply charming, easy to read and WHO CARES OKAY I LIKE THE BOOKS.
ALSO, how am I so unaware that I didn’t even know there was a MOVIE? Time to go watch that now! Was it good, what did you think of it? LET ME KNOW!
Now if you just skipped my entire review(I don’t’ blame you…😭) here’s a long story short :
It’s poorly written(sorry Sophie) but addicting and I hate myself for it! YAY!
